Application overview

A DC charging post usually consists of three main components: a three-phase PFC front-end, a DC-DC converter stage, and an auxiliary power supply. For these different topologies, we recommend using different series of VAST MOS products to optimize performance:

Three-phase Vienna PFC Front-end:

This is the input stage of the charging pile, which needs to handle high voltage and high current. We recommend the T series of VAST MOS. The T series features extremely low on-resistance and excellent switching characteristics to minimize losses and improve efficiency. Additionally, its excellent thermal performance ensures reliable operation in high power density designs.

DC-DC Converter Stage:

A full-bridge LLC resonant topology is typically used. For the main switch, we recommend the T-series VAST MOS. The ultra-fast switching speed and low switching loss characteristics of the T-series are well suited for high-frequency operation in the LLC topology, significantly improving conversion efficiency. For rectifier stage diodes, the FRD series is the ideal choice, with optimized fast recovery diode characteristics for further efficiency improvements.

Auxiliary Flyback:

For switching transistors in auxiliary Flyback supplies, we recommend the A-Series VAST MOS. The A-Series offers an excellent balance of performance and cost in medium-power applications. Its optimized switching characteristics and low gate charge increase the efficiency of auxiliary power supplies while reducing EMI.
